|  | | Walter H. Dunlap, Jr. was born in Dallas, Texas, July 26, 1941. Walter grew up in Killeen and El Paso, Texas, where he attended public schools, graduating from Ysleta High School in 1959. Walter met Carol Jean Francis during high school and they were married in El Paso in August, 1963. They are the parents of Dr. Charles Scott Dunlap, a pediatrician, and Cheryl Lynn Dunlap, an elementary school reading specialist. Undergraduate Education/Military
|  | | Walter attended the University of Texas at Austin and received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1964. He was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army, went on active duty and attended the Military Police Officer's basic school at Fort Gordon, Georgia, before being stationed in Frankfurt, West Germany, for two years. |  | | Following military service, Walter obtained his Juris Doctor Degree in 1968 from the University of Texas at Austin. He was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1968 and joined the firm of Turner, Rodgers, Winn, Scurlock & Terry as an associate attorney. Walter was engaged in general litigation for approximately the first ten years of his practice and attended Southern Methodist University where he obtained a Master of Laws Degree with emphasis on real estate, bankruptcy and business law in 1974. Walter was a founding partner of Jordan, Dunlap, Prather & Harris, L.L.P. in 1983. He is admitted to practice before all courts of the State of Texas, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and is a member of the Dallas and Texas Bar Associations. Walter's law practice has been broad in scope, involving both transactions and litigation, in the areas of real estate, homeowner's associations, creditor's rights, representation of secured lenders, bankruptcy, estate planning and probate, corporations and partnerships and construction law. He has served on numerous committees of the Dallas Bar Association, including the Fee Disputes and Judiciary Committees. Community Activities

He has also served as a board member of Schreiner University, Texas Presbyterian Foundation and the Park Cities Rotary Club; Trustee of the Edmund Boettcher Foundation; Trustee of the Presbyterian Village North Foundation, Inc.; and as a member of the Dallas Bar Association's pro bono attorney panel. |
